Mario joined The Brooklyn Studio in the fall of 2021. He graduated from the Spitzer School of Architecture at The City College of New York with a Bachelor of Architecture and a Master of Science in Architecture. Mario’s work was featured in Spitzer’s City Works publication, and he was awarded a scholarship for academic and design excellence. Mario’s graduate studies program participated in The Green New Deal Superstudio, a national conversation about how the ambitions of the Green New Deal could become realistic design projects. His studio’s work will be featured on the upcoming publication, Unbuilding.

Prior to joining The Brooklyn Studio, Mario interned at a fabrication firm in Red Hook. As an intern, he obtained knowledge in detailing, fabricating, and installing façade systems. He contributed to the development of shop drawings for various projects, including the Delta Airlines terminal renovation at LaGuardia Airport.

Mario is from Sunset Park, Brooklyn. Outside of the office, he enjoys going on walks, catching up on shows, and making music.

The Proust Questionnaire

Taking inspiration from a popular nineteenth-century parlor game, we sat down with each member of our team and asked them a few questions about their inspirations and aspirations.

What is your idea of perfect happiness?

It has something to do with music.

What is your greatest fear?

Success without fulfillment.

What is your greatest extravagance?

I recently started a LEGO collection.

What talent would you most like to have?

The art of public speaking.

What is your favorite color?

Navy blue.

What is your favorite virtue?

Wisdom.

Which living architect or designer do you most admire?

Renzo Piano.

Which dead architect or designer do you most admire?

Antoni Gaudí.

What is the trait that you most appreciate in a building?

Creativity, either in use of materials or spatial composition.

What is your favorite type of project to work on?

Abstract with purpose.

Who is your hero of fiction?

The hero who isn’t naturally gifted but doesn’t give up.

Who is your favorite artist?

Olafur Eliasson.

What is your most treasured possession?

My first architecture model.

Where would you like to live?

Somewhere peaceful with a nice view.

What quality do you most admire in others?

Kindness.

Stranded on a desert island, you have two books in your possession. What are they?

A crossword puzzle book and my old camping survival guide.
