Kristina Dickey

Project Designer

Kristina joined The Brooklyn Studio in the summer of 2025. She received her Master of Architecture from the University of Virginia, where she earned a Certificate in Historic Preservation as a Kelly Scholar. While in school, she studied hand drawing in the Veneto region of Italy and modern architecture in Madrid.

Before joining the firm, Kristina worked with After Architecture as a research assistant for the studio’s Before Building Laboratory. Working on projects that explored biomateriality and vernacular construction technology, the research team received a SARA National Design Award in 2024.

Originally from Richmond, Virginia, Kristina enjoys reading, sketching and walking through Prospect Park with friends in her free time.

What is your idea of perfect happiness?

Getting dinner with friends after not seeing each other for a long time.

What talent would you most like to have?

Speaking multiple languages.

What is your favorite color?

Brown.

What is your favorite virtue?

Reliability.

Peter Zumthor.

Which dead architect or designer do you most admire?

Ray and Charles Eames.

What is the trait that you most appreciate in a building?

Signs of use, patina.

What is your favorite type of project to work on?

Historic preservation and adaptive reuse.

Hannah Arendt.

Who is your favorite artist?

Rachel Whiteread, Sarah-Linh Tran.

What is your most treasured possession?

Ceramics made by my aunt.

Where would you like to live?

A walkable city or in the mountains.

What quality do you most admire in others?

Warmth.

A sketchbook and Leaves of Grass.
