Jesse is a partner and serves as the firm’s Technical Director. Since joining The Brooklyn Studio in 2004, he has worked on a wide range of projects including the firm’s award-winning rehabilitation of the Atlantic Theater Company.

Prior to The Brooklyn Studio, Jesse worked for Tuck Hinton Architects in Nashville, where he gained significant experience working on institutional, commercial, educational, and cultural buildings — including the Frist Art Museum and the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.

Jesse is a LEED Accredited Professional, and he holds a certificate from the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards. He holds a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Tennessee.

The Proust Questionnaire

Taking inspiration from a popular nineteenth-century parlor game, we sat down with each member of our team and asked them a few questions about their inspirations and aspirations.

What is your idea of perfect happiness?

I don’t believe there is a “perfect happiness,” but living your life on your own terms isn’t a bad place to start.

What is your greatest fear?

Not succeeding.

What is your greatest extravagance?

Travel. I enjoy seeing new places and having new experiences.

What talent would you most like to have?

I’d love to be able to play piano or guitar.

What is your favorite color?

Depends on my mood. Right now, it’s pale blue.

What is your favorite virtue?

Steadfastness.

Which living architect or designer do you most admire?

Tadao Ando.

Which dead architect or designer do you most admire?

Antoni Gaudí. Not necessarily for his work, although I do find his work to be stunning; more so, his approach to life and career.

What is the trait that you most appreciate in a building?

I appreciate buildings that are well thought-out, but seemingly effortlessly.

What is your favorite type of project to work on?

No favorite for project type, as long as the project is interesting.

Who is your favorite author?

Robert Heinlein.

Who is your hero of fiction?

Spider-Man.

Who is your favorite artist?

Chuck Close.

Where would you like to live?

I love to travel, so wherever the mood strikes me.

What quality do you most admire in others?

Humility.

Stranded on a desert island, you have two books in your possession. What are they?

The Door into Summer and The Stand.
