Henry joined The Brooklyn Studio in the winter of 2020 after earning his Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from the University of Georgia. Henry’s major strengths lie in his experience working with landscapes, his keen eye for detail, and his ambitious spirit. He thrives in the analytical and orderly nature of design, and he also enjoys focusing on the human aspect of design. He is an adept model builder, whether it be physical structures or computer models in SketchUp or Rhino.

The Proust Questionnaire

Taking inspiration from a popular nineteenth-century parlor game, we sat down with each member of our team and asked them a few questions about their inspirations and aspirations.

What is your idea of perfect happiness?

Locked in a dimly lit basement studio, surrounded only by instruments and recording gear for about a month. Food, water, and Vitamin D are sent down to me through a small tube in the ceiling.

What is your greatest fear?

Losing my hands in an industrial accident.

What is your greatest extravagance?

My hand-poured candle collection.

What talent would you most like to have?

Competitive eating skills: extreme stomach elasticity and depth.

What is your favorite color?

Forest Green.

What is your favorite virtue?

Humility.

Which living architect or designer do you most admire?

My dad!

Which dead architect or designer do you most admire?

At the moment, Carlo Scarpa.

What is the trait that you most appreciate in a building?

Built-in millwork with creative and unexpected qualities. Built-in recording studios.

What is your favorite type of project to work on?

Residential projects full of personality and surprises. Also, working on a recording studio would be a dream come true.

Who is your favorite author?

Dostoevsky.

Who is your hero of fiction?

Robin Hood.

Who is your favorite artist?

Pavement.

Which historical figure do you most identify with?

Helen of Troy or Roland the Farter.

What is your most treasured possession?

My hand-poured candle collection.

Lust for life!
